Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features text commentary of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , after recent talk regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the amount of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the final quarter versus Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it was positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.
Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that battle.
They had effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they might position two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said on a program how the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well then excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big while new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver represent a team that wants to run first, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass all over, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as finding different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
The head coach owns a Super Bowl and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids make him what he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to be in their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and that's precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
