Followers Urge Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are urging that a individual who breached a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the Australian man shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more response on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while others called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, winning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
