Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The track showcases a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
